Sarah's Lab Receives $2 Million Grant
The National Science Foundation has awarded more than $2 million to Dr. Leysia Palen and her colleagues at the University of Colorado to investigate the public's use of social media during crisis situations. The goal is to make spontaneously generated information by citizens during emergencies more accessible, comprehensible and trustworthy to help officials and people on the ground make safe decisions and coordinate with family, neighbors and officials during times of crisis. Adam's Move to California
Adam will be moving to California in a few weeks. He found a room to rent in La Honda, about a half hour drive from the Stanford campus. La Honda is in the hills between the bay and coast, and Adam is looking forward to exploring the running trails and biking routes when he gets settled. There is no cell phone service where he lives, but he will have an Internet connection. With this in mind, he has set up a local phone number that rings into his Skype account on his computer. So you can reach him at this number when he is at home (or anywhere he has his laptop).

Sarah & Adam's Wedding Photos
A slideshow of our wedding photos is now available, featuring lots of great shots of family and friends enjoying the reception. Many thanks to Julia Timmer for her photography.
Update on Sarah & Adam's Move
We will be moving into a new place in Boulder on August 8—a two bedroom apartment located at CU's family housing next to Boulder Creek. We are looking forward to being within walking distance to campus and downtown once again. The place will act as our home base until Sarah finishes her PhD.
In the meantime, Adam is searching for a studio near Stanford. He will be there from September through March to teach. He is hoping to find something either within walking/biking distance from campus or close to the running and hiking trails in Woodside or Portola Valley. If you know of any housing possibilities in the area, please let us know.

Sarah Rides the 120-mile Triple Bypass
On Saturday, Sarah completed the 120-mile Triple Bypass bike ride. The course starts in Bergen Park and climbs over Squaw Pass (11,140-ft), Loveland Pass, (11,990-ft), Swan Mountain Road, and Vail Pass (10,560-ft) before finishing in Avon.
While Sarah biked, Adam hiked up Mount of the Holy Cross (14,005-ft) not far from the finish line of the bike ride.
After a long day that included a few mechanical problems and lots of rain on the final descent from Vail Pass, Sarah found her way to the finish line around 6 pm. Sarah and Adam were ready for a long night of sleep after returning to Boulder.

Thanks For a Great Wedding Weekend
We want to thank everyone for helping us celebrate our marriage, and making it a weekend we will never forget!
We especially want to thank our parents for their love and support—they were instrumental in bringing this celebration to fruition.
We are grateful to Peter Hyland, Adam's best man, and Robyn Pobozny, Sarah's maid of honor, for standing by our sides through the entire process.
We also owe special thanks to Robb Seal for creating a beautiful ceremony, Sarah Fleming for her angelic singing, Renee duBois for her poetic reading, and George Figgs for keeping the dance tunes playing throughout the night.
We will post wedding photos in about three weeks, so check back for the photos, more news and and our new contact information when it comes available.
